Education Sector Support Program
Up to $15.4 million, 2011-2019
The Education Sector Support Program is a joint initiative with the Government of New Zealand to strengthen the Government of Samoa's education system. The program will help Samoa to implement the strategic priorities set out in their Education Sector Plan 2013–2018. Australia's education support will be provided directly through the Government of Samoa's budget systems.
Our collective investments are focused in critical areas that will help deliver quality outcomes and achieve long-lasting gains. We will ensure children attend quality early childhood education to better prepare them for primary school. We will work to make sure more primary school children can read, write and count to national standards to enable an easier transition into secondary education. We will develop more opportunities to help secondary students progress to tertiary or technical vocational education and we will make sure young Samoans are better prepared to enter the workforce and positively contribute to Samoa's economy and development.

Australia Pacific Technical College
The Australia Pacific Technical College (APTC) is a flagship program of the Australian Government, funded through Australia's Pacific Regional Program. The APTC delivers internationally recognised Australian qualifications at Certificate III, IV and Diploma levels for Pacific Islanders through technical and vocational training in highly demanded industry sectors.
Through our bilateral program to Samoa, Australia provides funding for approximately 150 Samoan students each year to complete international-standard trade, hospitality and community service courses at the APTC. More than 1300 Samoans have graduated from the College since 2007. Their new qualifications have transformed their lives, provided them with more education opportunities and access to better, more sustainable jobs and employment.
