World Expo is one of the oldest and largest international events, held every five years since 1851, it is a global platform for achievement, innovation, collaboration, and cooperation.

Australia will participate in the next World Expo from 13 April 2025 to 13 October 2025.

Located on the waterfront location of Yumeshima in Osaka, Japan’s second-largest city and major culinary destination, Expo 2025 will provide an opportunity for Australia to connect directly with the Japanese community and global citizens to promote our culture, values, high-quality products and services, and our technological and economic capabilities.

Australia will be among 150 participating countries at the Expo. Organisers anticipate more than 28 million visitors will come to Expo including more than 3.5 million international visitors from across the globe.

Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, ‘Designing Future Society for our Lives’, will focus on developing and adopting best practices from around the world to drive co-creation by the global community in designing a sustainable society that supports social challenges, emerging sciences and evolving technologies.

Opportunities for Australian companies

The Australian Government will take advantage of this global event to optimise commercial opportunities for Australia, showcase our culture and innovative economy and tell the Australian story.

The Australian Pavilion will provide a platform to maximise the appeal of Australia as a place to visit, study, invest and do business, and highlight Australia’s strengths across diverse sectors such as tourism, agriculture, premium foods, education, space, health, sciences, the arts and clean energy production.

With more than 150 countries participating in a single location, Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai (Expo) presents a unique opportunity for Australian business, industry and governments to collaborate and expand their interests and connections in one of Asia’s most influential business hubs. Each country will host business delegations, generating new networks amongst governments, global businesses, investors and industry leaders.

Opportunities for Australian artists and arts companies

The Australian Pavilion will use the Expo platform to promote Australia’s rich culture and diverse arts scene. Curating a dedicated program of events, we will present a diverse program of cultural performances and feature Australia’s most respected thought-leaders across multiple sectors.

Australian Pavilion Website – coming soon

The Australian Pavilion story, ‘Chasing the Sun’ encapsulates Australia’s connection to land, unfading resilience, and collaborative nature in embracing ingenuity, optimism and opportunity for a better future.  It celebrates Australia’s 60,000-year indigenous history and bond with the sun to power the spirit of our people, and act as a conduit for cultivating inspiration, creativity, and innovation.

A dedicated Australian Pavilion website is currently being constructed and will feature the latest Expo 2025 and Australian Pavilion news, partnership announcements and opportunities for participation.

Opportunities for contracts for the Australian Pavilion

In the lead up to Expo 2025 Osaka, a variety of contracts for the Australian Pavilion will be listed on the AusTender website.

To assist contractors interested in participating in the Australian Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, we held a virtual workshop on how to register and use Austender. A transcript of the presentation is available in English and Japanese.

Partner with the Australian Pavilion

We are looking for extraordinary organisations to help us shine on the world stage and we invite you to join us as an Australian Pavilion partner.

We are currently seeking expressions of interest from businesses interested in providing construction, fit-out, landscaping, building services, furniture, fittings and equipment* for the Australian Pavilion through our partnerships program. Australian Pavilion partners receive a range of Expo-related promotional and business advocacy benefits, in exchange for their cash or value-in-kind contribution.
