Global Education Resources for Classrooms

Now more than ever, students need to understand their world and their place in it. These resourced, curriculum-aligned lesson plans for Years 3-10 help students explore what it means to be a solutions-focused global citizen, motivated by values of equity, sustainability, and cooperation. Each module builds knowledge of the Asia-Pacific region and includes a call to action that lets students step into real-life simulations promoting sustainable development and regional partnerships.

Focus: thinking critically about what it means to be part of a diverse global community, students create a hypothetical partnership project.

Focus: Students develop their understanding of water through hands-on activities and problem solve technical solutions to challenges faced by communities.

Interconnected Communities

Curriculum links: Geography, Economics and Business
Lesson length: 4 lessons (60 mins each)
Focus: Students learn how Australia supports the United Nations and categorise development support into needs and wants, predicting the improvements it could bring for regional communities.

Introduce students to the United Nations and how the Sustainable Development Goals support communities worldwide through access to a variety of resources.

Resourceful Partnerships

Curriculum links: Economics and Business, Geography, Mathematics
Lesson length: 4 lessons (60 mins each)
Focus: Students learn how human development investments improve access to resources and assess how to distribute budget allocations based on sector need.

This module can be used as part of a sequence, following on from Interconnected Communities. Students research the diversity of the Asia Pacific region and learn how official development partnerships are managed using budgets.

Environmental Resilience

Focus: students explore regional connections between Australia and the Pacific as they plan development strategies to help address climate change.

Focus: Students consider the types of interactions and programs that help communities to function, providing a feeling of security and confidence.

Glossary

This glossary supports students and teachers using the Global Education curriculum modules for Years 3–10. It provides clear, age appropriate explanations of key development terms that appear across the lessons, activities and case studies. The glossary is designed to be used flexibly. Teachers may introduce terms before a lesson, revisit them during class discussions, or encourage students to use the glossary independently as they encounter new concepts.
