Australia is committed to ambitious and practical action on climate change. We’re taking significant steps at home, in our region, and at the global level.
We’re focused on developing practical, scalable solutions that will enable Australia to reach net zero, while partnering with other countries to decarbonise and grow our economies.
DFAT leads Australia’s international response to climate change through multilateral negotiations, our foreign policy and trade and climate-related support through our development assistance program.
Our work includes:
Australia at the 26th UN Climate Change Conference
Australia is hosting a pavilion at the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow. The 26th Conference of the Parties (COP26) is bringing together representatives from around the world to tackle climate change.
Through engaging displays and events, Australia’s pavilion is showcasing the practical actions we are taking to reach net zero emissions. You can participate in many of these events online. Visit the COP26 website to access online events and keep up to date with the latest news and announcements.
Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment
Mr Jamie Isbister is Australia’s Ambassador for the Environment. He leads Australia’s Whole of Government international engagement to help strengthen international frameworks and cooperation on climate change, oceans and the environment, and to promote Australia’s work in meeting our international commitments. For updates on Australia’s action on climate change, follow the Ambassador on Twitter.
