A New Roadmap for Australia's Economic Engagement with India outlines how the Government intends to seize the opportunity that our relationship with India presents.

The purpose of the mid-term review (MTR) was to assess the program's performance and progress towards its objectives, and to identify areas for improvement. The MTR provided a list of recommendations and lessons for the remainder of the program.

Action on climate change is central to Australia’s national development priorities. Australia’s International Development Policy recognises that measures to adapt and build resilience to climate impacts are urgently needed to defend against climate-induced loss and damage.

Australia will work with partners to support regional economic growth through increased infrastructure investment and a stronger focus on integrating climate considerations in accordance with G20 infrastructure principles.

The Australia – South Asia (Regional) Development Partnership Plan 2024–2029 (DPP) translates into action the regional development priorities Australia shares with South Asia. The DPP sets out agreed objectives, how we will work with partners to deliver shared outcomes, and how progress will be monitored.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is pleased to announce the launch of the inaugural Australia-India Strategic and Technology Policy Initiative (SATPI) grant round. 

Turkmenistan covers an area of 488,100 square kilometres and is bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan and Iran, with the Caspian Sea to the west. The country's diverse ethnic make-up includes 85 per cent Turkmen, 5 per cent Uzbek and 4 per cent Russian, along with other ethnic minorities.

Tajikistan is the smallest of the five central Asian states, with a total land area of 143,099 square kilometres – approximately twice the size of Tasmania. It is culturally diverse due to its unique geographical position at the crossroad of East Asia, the Middle East and Russia. 

The Kyrgyz Republic is land-locked and spans 199,951 square kilometres of rugged terrain, bordered by Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and China.

Afghanistan continues to face one of the world's most severe and protracted humanitarian crises. Prolonged drought, decades of conflict, COVID-19, and the recent political and economic crises have exacerbated the humanitarian need.
