 Prime Minister of Australia, the Hon Anthony Albanese MP, and the Prime Minister of Solomon Islands, the Hon Matthew Wale CBE, issued a joint statement committing to elevate the bilateral relationship on the basis of mutual trust, respect and open dialogue. Leaders agreed to commence negotiations towards a comprehensive treaty to capture the two countries’ joint ambition for the relationship.

Solomon Islands and Australia are family with interconnected futures – we share a region, an ocean and a history of partnership. Australia is Solomon Islands' partner of choice across the economic, development and security sectors.

The Australia Partnership for Justice (ASIPJ), a four-year AUD20 million investment (2022-2025) with a potential for further extension.

Australia's assistance to Solomon Islands contributes directly to enhancing Solomon Islands' inclusive economic growth, infrastructure and job creation. These are all priorities of the Solomon Islands Government.

Australia will enhance Solomon Islands' resilience to shocks through our investments in education, health, gender equality and disability inclusion, and community partnerships.

Australia will continue our enduring partnership with Solomon Islands to strength public institutions, improve stability, security and resilience to disasters and climate change. This will enable Solomon Islands to grow its economy and improve the livelihoods and wellbeing of its people.
