Strengthening the implementation of basic education in selected provinces in the Visayas

Summary

This evaluation looks at STRIVE, a program aimed a strengthening the capacity of the Philippines Department of Education to lead and manage improvements in the education sector.

Description

STRIVE–Strengthening the implementation of basic education in selected provinces in the Visayas–was intended to improve access to education and the quality of that education in the Visayas region of the Philippines.

The program aimed to do this by supporting the Philippines Government's own education improvement plans, which included teacher training, better school-based management and equitable provision of learning materials to all students.

The program was intended to be sustainable and to ensure that, in future, the Philippines Department of Education would be able to undertake such change independently.

This evaluation assesses whether the program achieved these objectives.
