Director Western Australia State Office, Ms Pamela Currie

Pamela Currie commenced as Director of the Western Australian State Office in January 2026.

Pamela’s experience with DFAT includes diplomatic postings to Wellington, New Zealand (2021-2023, including a secondment to the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade) and Pretoria, South Africa (2014-2017). In Canberra, her work has focused on collaboration with key international partners in the Pacific and support for the establishment of the Office of the Pacific, plus human resource management in DFAT’s overseas network. Most recently, she served as Director of the Cable Connectivity and Resilience Centre in DFAT, working with governments and industry to support secure and resilient telecommunication cable connectivity in the Indo-Pacific.

Pamela began her career in the Australian Public Service with the then Department of Immigration and Citizenship in 2008, before joining DFAT in 2012.

Pamela holds a Master of International Affairs from the Australian National University and a Bachelor of Arts (Asian Studies) with Honours / Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia.
