Ms Carrington is a senior career officer with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). She commenced as Director of DFAT's Queensland State Office in June 2026.
Prior to this Ms Carrington held various roles in DFAT’s Office of the Pacific. As well as significant Pacific expertise, she has extensive experience in international climate change policy and negotiations.
In Canberra, Ms Carrington has also served in the department’s Europe, legal and corporate management divisions. Overseas, she was Australian Consul-General in New Caledonia (2019–21) and, earlier, Third Secretary in Berlin. Outside of DFAT, Ms Carrington has held roles at CSIRO and the Department of Climate Change.
Ms Carrington holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Queensland.
