Scott Kelleher commenced as the Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s Tasmania State Office in November 2025. He is responsible for managing DFAT's engagement with a wide range of stakeholders in Tasmania, including government, business, international organisations, academia, the arts and the community.
A former aid worker, journalist and communications professional, Scott enjoyed a diverse international career in the private sector and worked for five other state and federal government agencies before joining the Department in 2010. In his time at DFAT, he has worked in corporate, development and foreign policy roles focused on Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Pacific.
Scott has completed postings in Afghanistan as Head of Aid, Iraq as Deputy Head of Mission, and most recently Russia, where he was Deputy Head of Mission at Australia’s embassy in Moscow.
