Duty free access for 97.8 per cent of the current value of exports into the EU from day one, 98 per cent after 7 years.

Seafood

Tariffs of up to 26% eliminated on entry into force (EIF) Includes removal of up to:

  • 15% tariff on kingfish
  • 12% tariff on prawns
  • 11% tariff on abalone

Cereals and grain products

Wheat and meslin

Tariff of up to $166/t (€95/t) eliminated over 5 years

Barley

Tariff of $163/t (€93/t) eliminated over 5 years

Wheat gluten

20,000 tonnes of new duty-free access per annum

Sugar

New duty-free access of 35,000 tonnes per annum phased in over 3 years for sustainable raw cane sugar for refining, resulting in a total of 44,925 tonnes of duty-free access

New duty-free access of 4,000 tonnes for processed sugar products

Immediate elimination at EIF of the $172/t (€98/t) in-quota rate on Australia's existing WTO CSQ

Beef

Guaranteed access of 35,000 tonnes cwe, with new additional access of 30,600 tonnes cwe, per annum phased in over 10 years

Immediate elimination at EIF of the 20% in-quota rate for Australia's existing WTO 'Hilton' CSQ

Up to $578 million of new access per annum with total guaranteed access of up to $661 million

Sheep meat

New additional access of 25,000 tonnes cwe, per annum phased in over 7 years

Guaranteed access of 30,851 tonnes (including Australia's existing WTO sheep meat CSQ of 5,851 tonnes cwe)

Up to $218 million of new access per annum with total guaranteed access of up to $269 million

Honey

Tariff of 17.3% eliminated over 3 years

Olive oil

Tariff of $2,356/t (€1,346/t) eliminated over 3 years

Dairy

Tariffs eliminated on 87.3% of the EU's dairy tariff lines

Includes the elimination of tariffs on cheese, whole milk powder, dairy spreads and ice cream over 3 years

New duty-free access for 8,000 tonnes for skimmed milk powder, 5,000 tonnes for butter, and 2,000 tonnes for high protein whey per annum

Rice

Tariffs eliminated on husked (brown) rice, broken rice, and processed rice products over 3 years

New duty-free access for 8,500 tonnes of semi-milled/milled rice per annum within 5 years

Manufactured goods

Elimination of all tariffs, except steel, with the vast majority on EIF, including:

Machinery

Tariffs of up to 14% eliminated

Textiles

Tariffs of up to 12% eliminated

Auto parts

Tariffs of up to 4.5% eliminated

Wine

Tariff of up to $56 (€32) per 100L eliminated immediately on EIF

Tariff savings of up to $36.8 million per year

Horticulture

Onions

Tariff of 9.6% eliminated on EIF

Potatoes1

Tariff of 11.5% eliminated on EIF

Carrots

Tariff of 13.6% eliminated on EIF

Nuts

Tariffs of up to 5.6% eliminated on EIF including immediate removal of:

up to 5.6% tariff on almonds

Energy transition

EU tariffs eliminated on Australian critical minerals and hydrogen on EIF

EU tariffs eliminated on environmental goods, and better access for environmental services

Australia's raised foreign investment threshold will facilitate EU investment in Australia's energy transition

Cheaper zero-emissions vehicles through a new Luxury Car Tax category with a threshold of $120,000 for these vehicles

Framework of greater cooperation with the EU on resources and energy, including joint investments in critical minerals projects

Sustainable trade and labour

Ambitious commitments on the environment, climate change, gender equality, women's economic empowerment, and labour

Legally-binding commitment to implement the Paris Agreement on climate change

Enforceable obligations to implement international labour standards

No investor-state dispute settlement mechanism

Service suppliers and professionals

New opportunities in the EU for Australian service exporters including the following sectors: financial services, education, tourism and communications

Easier travel to and within the EU for Australian service suppliers and professionals

Streamlined processes for recognising Australian professional qualifications in the EU

Australian consumers

Cheaper products from the EU by eliminating tariffs on all goods except steel imported from the EU, including automotives, cosmetics, apparel, wine, spirits and food

Right to regulate. Australia maintains the right to regulate in pursuit of its own interest, including public health and safety, the environment, social and consumer protection, privacy and data protection and the promotion and protection of rights and interests of Australia's First Nations peoples

First Nations people

The rights and interests of Australia's First Nations people were reflected throughout the agreement

Australia has secured practical trade and investment outcomes for First Nations Australians, including in art, energy and resources, and agri-food systems

Artists, including First Nations artists, will have resale rights to receive royalties when their artworks are resold in the EU

Business and Investment

Better access to bid on lucrative EU government contract opportunities, worth almost $845 billion annually, including for rail and construction

Lowers costs for businesses that rely on inputs sourced from the EU. The FTA eliminates tariffs on all goods except steel imported from the EU, including machinery, components and ingredients

Lowers barriers to Australian investment in the EU and help attract more EU investment. The EU is already Australia's fourth-largest source of total investment, valued at $132.1 billion in 2024

Digital trade rules provide greater certainty, boost investor and consumer confidence and reduce business costs. New rules guarantee tariff free electronic transactions; protect proprietary information and source-codes; and prohibit unjustified data localisation

Education and Innovation

Expands opportunities for Australian education providers in the EU by making it easier to establish a commercial presence, provide cross- border education, and travel to the EU to deliver education services. Education exports to the EU were worth $995 million in 2024-25

Creates an Innovation Mobility Pathway. This pathway will help Australian researchers, engineers and technicians to travel, stay and move within the EU and offers better access for Australian institutions to world-leading European researchers and technical specialists
