About IA-CEPA
IA-CEPA creates a framework for Australia and Indonesia to unlock the vast potential of the bilateral economic partnership, fostering economic cooperation between businesses, communities and individuals.
As one of the fastest growing economies in the Indo-Pacific, Indonesia presents a significant opportunity for Australian businesses. By some estimates, Indonesia will be one of the world's largest economies by 2040, and IA-CEPA ensures that Australia is well-placed to deepen economic cooperation and share in Indonesia's growth.
IA-CEPA complements Australia's arrangements with Indonesia under the ASEAN-Australia-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (AANZFTA) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).
Making the most of IA-CEPA
Additional information, including guidance on how to take advantage of the agreement, is available at Using IA-CEPA to do business with Indonesia. DFAT's FTA Portal also provides information on goods and services trade under IA-CEPA.
The Skills Development Exchange Pilot is an outcome of IA-CEPA and gives businesses from Australia and Indonesia the opportunity to send employees to undertake workplace placements for up to twelve months in the other country. The Pilot aims to provide an opportunity for participants to develop their own workplace skills while strengthening cooperation and understanding between Australia and Indonesia.
