Australia and Maldives share a commitment to a peaceful, stable and prosperous Indian Ocean region. We established bilateral relations in 1974 and in 2024 mark 50 years of diplomatic ties. Australia opened its High Commission in Malé in 2023. 

Australia and Malaysia are longstanding partners and friends. In 2025 we will marks 70 years of Australia's diplomatic presence in Malaysia. Our relationship is based on mutual respect and our common interests, shared history and strong community links.

Australia and Luxembourg have a warm relationship and cooperate in multilateral organisations, including on climate change, human rights and disarmament.

Australia and Lithuania established diplomatic relations in 1991 and have friendly relations, based on shared interests and close people-to-people links.

Australia enjoys friendly bilateral relations with Lebanon, underpinned by strong people-to-people links. The Australian Embassy in Beirut, opened in 1967, was the third Australian Embassy to be established in the Middle East.

Australia and Latvia established diplomatic links in 1991. Australia and Latvia share a commitment to trade liberalisation and strengthening the rules-based international order.

Australia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Laos) are longstanding bilateral and regional partners, with a relationship underpinned by development cooperation, business ties and people-to-people links.

The State of Kuwait is situated in the north-east corner of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered by the Republic of Iraq to the north and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the south and west.
