Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (MAMPU) Phase 2 Independent Strategic Review and management response

Summary of publication

The Australia-Indonesia Partnership for Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (MAMPU) Phase 2 (2016-20) is an Australian Government funded program working with the Government of Indonesia and civil society organisations to improve women's empowerment and gender equality.

An Independent Strategic Review (ISR) was commissioned by DFAT in mid-2018 to assess the contribution and ongoing relevance of the MAMPU program, and identify possible options for DFAT's future investment in gender equality and civil society strengthening in Indonesia.

The review found that the MAMPU program has made a strong contribution to women's empowerment and gender equality in Indonesia. The review produced a set of short term and longer term recommendations for DFAT's consideration.
