The Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia:
NOTING that 20 December 2025 marks the 10th anniversary of the entry into force of the Free Trade Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of Australia ("ChAFTA" or "the Agreement");
RECOGNISING the important role of the ChAFTA in promoting the development of economic and trade relations between the two countries since its entry into force in 2015;
WELCOMING the fruitful work carried out by the two sides according to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Australia Regarding Further Enhancing the Implementation of China-Australia Free Trade Agreement in 2024-2025 to promote the high-quality implementation of the ChAFTA;
RECOGNISING the rich achievements of economic and trade cooperation between the businesses and industries of the two countries through the ChAFTA and the importance of their views about the further potential of the ChAFTA for deepening economic and trade cooperation;
REAFFIRMING the ChAFTA's contribution to the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership through the removal of barriers to the trade in goods and services and investment flows between the two countries;
Enter the following arrangements:
- Review the operation of the Agreement, with a view to further the ChAFTA's objectives, in line with Article 16.5, Article 8.24, and Article 9.9, and report thereon to the Joint Commission.
- Conduct these review processes to identify areas for further improvement or expansion, including, but not limited to, consideration of deepening liberalisation and further expansion of market access.
- Aim to finish the works in Paragraphs 1 and 2 within the year of 2026.
- Maintain the close contact and undertake intensive cooperation between the two sides under the mechanism of the Joint Commission and subsidiary committees to continue to promote the high-quality implementation of the ChAFTA.
SIGNED in Beijing, on 15th day of July in the Year Two Thousand and Twenty-Five in two original copies, one in the English Language and one in the Chinese Language, both texts being equally valid. In the event of a difference of interpretation, the English text will prevail.
