Viet Nam and Australia held the 20th Australia–Viet Nam Human Rights Dialogue on 12 August 2025 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The Dialogue is an important part of Viet Nam and Australia’s bilateral architecture and involved broad representation from both sides, including the Australian Human Rights Commission.
 

The ASEAN-Australia Centre’s 2025-26 Grants Program is now open for applications, with $2.2 million available.

Australia and Indonesia are long-standing partners in the justice sector. The Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice (AIPJ3) focuses on seven policy priorities that are important to Australia and Indonesia: accountability and transparency, criminal justice reform, preventing violent extremism, transnational crime cooperation, commercial law, access to justice, and women’s leadership

Eight years ago, the Myanmar military launched a campaign of systemic violence against Rohingya communities, leading to mass displacement, widespread human rights violations and abuses, and untold suffering. Today, more than 1.1 million Rohingya remain displaced in Bangladesh, along with hundreds of thousands elsewhere in the region and internally in Myanmar.

A comprehensive end-of-program evaluation (2019–2024), guided by the The APSP's Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Plan, assessed program performance and GEDSI integration. Methods included a desk review, stakeholder consultations, a survey, activity observation, and case studies.

The 2023 Mekong-Australia Partnership Annual Report focuses on the progress and achievements of MAP activities across the five pillars of its first phase – Economic Resilience, Water, Energy and Climate (WEC), Human Capacity, Cyber and Trade and Investment – from 1 January to 31 December 2023. 

Developed by the University of Queensland, the report Understanding Australia’s Indian Communities: A Statistical Snapshot provides a foundation to better understand Australia’s Indian communities, allowing for better engagement and more impactful policy recommendations.

Partnerships for Infrastructure (P4I) is DFAT’s only Australian-led, region-wide ODA infrastructure program in Southeast Asia. It works with eight partner governments in the region and with ASEAN. 

The Elimination of Violence against Women and Children in Vietnam (EVAWC) program (AUD10 million, 2021-2025) was co-designed by UNFPA, UN Women and UNICEF, in consultation with relevant Government of Vietnam partners. It is implemented as a joint UN program by these three UN agencies.

The purpose of the mid-term review (MTR) was to assess the efficiency and effectiveness of AASAM implementation during the initial contract period, and to identify opportunities for improvement for the remaining period of the program.
