Viet Nam and Australia held the 20th Australia–Viet Nam Human Rights Dialogue on 12 August 2025 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The Dialogue is an important part of Viet Nam and Australia’s bilateral architecture and involved broad representation from both sides, including the Australian Human Rights Commission.

Eight years ago, the Myanmar military launched a campaign of systemic violence against Rohingya communities, leading to mass displacement, widespread human rights violations and abuses, and untold suffering. Today, more than 1.1 million Rohingya remain displaced in Bangladesh, along with hundreds of thousands elsewhere in the region and internally in Myanmar.

The Elimination of Violence against Women and Children in Vietnam (EVAWC) program (AUD10 million, 2021-2025) was co-designed by UNFPA, UN Women and UNICEF, in consultation with relevant Government of Vietnam partners. It is implemented as a joint UN program by these three UN agencies.
