Australia is deepening engagement with Southeast Asia and the Mekong subregion. We recognise the subregion’s economic growth and potential but intensifying regional challenges need regional responses, including responding to problems that cross borders, such as climate change, water insecurity, transnational crime and economic shocks.
Through the Mekong-Australia Partnership (MAP), we are strengthening Mekong resilience, development and integration building on our bilateral, ASEAN and regional programs.
The 2023 Mekong-Australia Partnership Annual Report focuses on the progress and achievements of MAP activities across the five pillars of its first phase – Economic Resilience, Water, Energy and Climate (WEC), Human Capacity, Cyber and Trade and Investment – from 1 January to 31 December 2023.
