The Regional Media Support Fund aims to support more viable, resilient, inclusive, and independent media in the Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Asia by providing regional media with the skills and tools they need to serve the public interest.

Australia was pleased to join the US and a range of international partners in endorsing this statement on 25 September 2024 in New York.

The Cable Connectivity and Resilience Centre (the Centre) is an Australian Government initiative designed to work with governments and industry across the Indo-Pacific to support the effective development and management of undersea telecommunications cables.

The Australian Government has committed to reviewing the potential restoration of shortwave radio, options to continue the PacificAus TV program, and options to maximise the impact of Australian taxpayer investment in the Indo-Pacific media context.

The Australia-Southeast Asia Media and Broadcasting Initiative (the Initiative) aims to provide a framework to expand access to Australian content that resonates with local audiences, boost industry connections in the region, and strengthen the resilience of regional media outlets through training and development programs.

The Australia-Pacific Broadcasting and Media Partnership (the Partnership) aims to boost industry connections, continue capacity building to support strong, independent Pacific media, and expand access to high quality Australian and Pacific content.

Australia is working in partnership with the Pacific, whole-of-government agencies, multilateral organisations, and partner governments to deliver the Australia-Pacific Partnerships for Aviation Program (2023-2028).

The Australian Government is investing more than $68 million over five years to deliver the Indo-Pacific Broadcasting Strategy. 

Australia has a long history of supporting enhanced skills and training for Pacific media through the Pacific Media Assistance Scheme (PACMAS).
