Regional Media Support Fund

Australia is bolstering support to encourage more viable, resilient, inclusive and independent media in the Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Asia

The Regional Media Support Fund aims to support more viable, resilient, inclusive, and independent media in the Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Asia by providing regional media with the skills and tools they need to serve the public interest.

The Fund builds on Australia's investments in strengthening local media across the region, complementing existing media development efforts by filling gaps and expanding reach, and supporting broader objectives under the Australian Government's Indo-Pacific Broadcasting Strategy.

Through an open and competitive process, ABC International Development was selected as the managing contractor to support DFAT in the design and implementation of the Fund, with all funding decisions made solely by DFAT.

Scope

The Fund is considering a broad range of challenges that regional media face in delivering quality media services to serve the public interest. Requests for support may include business and organisational management, small-scale equipment, technology or facility upgrades, professional development and/or upskilling to support more viable, resilient and inclusive media organisations.

The Fund is open to working with a range of organisations, including but not limited to, media organisations, commercial and not-for-profits, non-government organisations, civil society, membership networks and associations, education institutions, and media development institutions.

Requests for support must be focused on enhancing the capacity and capability of local media in countries eligible for development assistance in the Pacific, Southeast Asia and South Asia.
