Human rights

Australia commends Benin for removing all references to the death penalty from its updated Criminal Code (2018).

We commend Argentina for its progress on human rights since its last Universal Periodic Review in 2017.

The 42nd session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a United Nations process that considers the human rights record of each UN Member State. It is a mechanism of the UN Human Rights Council.
