Survivors, families and first responders who would like to attend a commemoration service in either Newcastle, Australia or Bali, Indonesia can apply for a grant to assist with the cost of their travel.

Applications can be made via GrantConnect between 1 October 2025 and 11:30pm AEDT on 28 November 2025 (Grant ID: GO79707).

  • The Newcastle service will be held at Edward Charles de Vos' Park, Newcastle, from 18:00-18:30 on 1 October. Members of the public are welcome at this event.
  • In Bali, the Australian Consulate-General will hold a commemorative service and open its Memorial Garden to honour the victims and survivors. Attendance is by registration only by emailing bali.congen@dfat.gov.au by 24 September 2025.

Eligible applicants who travelled within Australia to the Newcastle event can apply for one-off payments of between $150 and $1,400 per person towards the costs of attendance.

For eligible applicants who travelled from Australia to Bali, one-off payments of up to $2,000 are available.

Four Australians died in the 2005 Bali bombings, and 17 were injured.

We express our deepest sympathies for the profound loss experienced by families and loved ones, and we acknowledge the courage and strength of survivors and those whose lives were changed forever that day.

Together, on what will be a difficult day for many in Australia, Indonesia and around the world, we will honour the lives of the victims and the courage and resilience shown by survivors and their families.
