Vanuatu-Australia Nakamal Agreement

The Vanuatu-Australia Nakamal Agreement signed on 29 June 2025 will elevate the partnership between Australia and Vanuatu, deepening integration between our people, strengthening our security cooperation and the collective security of our region, and supporting Vanuatu’s development and economic aspirations. The Agreement builds on our deep and enduring partnership based on mutual respect, shared values, and a common vision for our region.

Vanuatu is an independent republic with three official languages: Bislama, English and French. Part of the chain of Melanesian islands lying to the north-east of Australia, its capital, Port Vila, is only three and a half hours flying time from Sydney.
