Vuvale Union Treaty and Ocean of Peace Alliance
The Vuvale Union Treaty and Ocean of Peace Alliance, signed on 6 July 2026, elevate Australia’s partnership with Fiji to an Alliance and build on the deep foundations of our enduring bilateral relationship. The Vuvale Union Treaty is a natural progression of the close, longstanding partnership between Fiji and Australia and enhances all levels of bilateral engagement, including in security (including countering transnational crime and drugs), economic development, health, education, people-to-people links and sport. The Ocean of Peace Alliance is Fiji’s first Alliance and Australia’s fourth. The Alliance reinforces Australia and Fiji’s commitment to a peaceful, prosperous and secure region.
