The SDP will strengthen cooperation between Australia and the EU on global security challenges, including cyber and emerging technologies, economic security (including critical minerals), hybrid threats, maritime security, space and defence industry cooperation.

The 7th Australia-EU Joint Committee Meeting was held in Canberra on 16 September 2025. The annual meeting provides overall coordination of EU-Australia cooperation under the 2022 Framework Agreement.

Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom have released a joint statement following Belarus’ sham presidential elections on 26 January 2025.

Germany and Australia are strategic partners with joint global responsibility. Lifting our partnership to a new level comes at a time of increased strategic convergence and mutual solidarity and assistance.

Australia and the Netherlands advance common goals on human rights, rules-based trade, multilateralism and security, including cyber security and non proliferation and disarmament.

Australia and Luxembourg have a warm relationship and cooperate in multilateral organisations, including on climate change, human rights and disarmament.

Australia and Germany work closely to advance bilateral, regional and multilateral cooperation. In June 2021 Australia and Germany convened the second 2+2 Ministerial Foreign and Security Policy Consultations to address key security and regional challenges.

Australia and the European Union (EU) enjoy a substantial bilateral relationship built on a shared commitment to democratic values and a like-minded approach to a broad range of international issues.

Australia and Belgium have a close relationship grounded in shared values, international cooperation, particularly in multilateral fora, and growing trade and investment ties.

The Australian Government has limited all bilateral cooperation with Belarus due to its support for Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Australia only engages bilaterally with Belarus when it is critical to delivering on our national interests.
