Gender equality benefits everyone. It is a necessary foundation for peace, prosperity and stability. It drives economic growth, enhances social cohesion and increases the wellbeing of all members of society.

Australia, Canada, the European Union, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom have released a joint statement following Belarus’ sham presidential elections on 26 January 2025.

The Laos Australia Institute is an Australian Government human resource development program in Laos, which incorporates Australia Awards long terms scholarships, Australia Awards short courses, training, alumni engagement activities, human resource development support and technical assistance. 

We appreciate the initiative taken by the African Group to find a way forward to address the Third Committee’s workload which has significantly increased over recent years.

We commend the Africa Group for presenting this important resolution and leading us through arduous negotiations in good faith. 

Our concerns to strengthen language on this important issue were not heard or addressed, and we find the exclusion of sexual and reproductive health-care services unacceptable.

We want to recognize the value of families in all our societies.

The Rome Statute was one of the first international treaties to extensively address conflict-related sexual and gender-based violence as crimes against humanity, war crimes and, in some instances, genocide.

The rise in serious human rights violations and abuses in Myanmar is deeply concerning.
