Polynesia, Micronesia and Development (PDD)

New Caledonia is a semi-autonomous French territory. Under the Noumea Accord signed in 1998, the French State retains sovereignty for defence, foreign affairs, law and order, monetary policy, and tertiary education and research.

The Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) is located in the western Pacific Ocean, half way between Hawaii and Australia, north of the equator and west of the International Date Line.

Kiribati comprises 32 low-lying atolls and the raised phosphate island of Banaba.

French Polynesia is a semi-autonomous French territory. The French State oversees certain competencies such as defence, foreign affairs, law and order, monetary policy, certain parts of tertiary education and research.

The Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) — made up of the four island states of Yap, Chuuk, Pohnpei and Kosrae — has a population of approximately 112,600 people.

Cook Islands comprises 15 small islands, spread over 2.2 million square kilometres, between American Samoa and French Polynesia, South of Hawaii. Avrarua, on the island of Rarotonga, is the national capital. The islands are home to a population of approximately 17,500 people. There are at least four times as many Cook Islanders living in New Zealand and Australia.

Niue is a self-governing country in free association with New Zealand. A coral island of 260 square kilometres, Niue is located about 480 kilometres east of Tonga and 560 kilometres south-east of Samoa.
