Statement following the meeting of the G7+ Special Representatives for Afghanistan on 29-30 September 2025

Today marks 20 years since the 2005 Bali bombings, which saw the tragic loss of 20 lives, including 4 Australians, 15 Indonesians and one Japanese national. 17 Australians were injured along with many other innocent bystanders. We honour the victims, and the courage and resilience shown by survivors and their families.

The Australian Government is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified individuals to be considered for nomination to the roster of panel chairs pursuant to the Dispute Settlement Chapter of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).

Viet Nam and Australia held the 20th Australia–Viet Nam Human Rights Dialogue on 12 August 2025 in Hanoi, Viet Nam. The Dialogue is an important part of Viet Nam and Australia’s bilateral architecture and involved broad representation from both sides, including the Australian Human Rights Commission.
