Australians in conflict-affected areas should shelter in place, monitor Smartraveller, and follow the advice of local authorities.

On Friday 28 March at 1250 local time (1720 AEDT), a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck near Mandalay, Myanmar's second largest city, followed by a 6.4 magnitude aftershock just minutes later. 

On 17 December 2024 at approximately 1247pm, a magnitude 7.2 earthquake struck off the coast of Vanuatu’s capital, Port Vila. The earthquake and associated aftershocks, triggered landslides and building collapses and caused damage to critical infrastructure in Port Vila.

The Australian Government is supporting Papua New Guinea’s response, following the devastating landslide in Enga Province on 24 May 2024.

The Australian Government is providing consular assistance to Australians in Lebanon, the Occupied Palestinian Territories and Israel and supporting registered Australians.

Australia is extremely concerned by the conflict in Sudan which has resulted in thousands of deaths and injuries since fighting began on 15 April 2023. We continue to call on all parties to agree to a permanent ceasefire, enable safe humanitarian access, make progress on negotiations and work towards civilian-led democratic governance in Sudan.

Australia unequivocally supports Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity. As a true and reliable partner, we continue to play our part to uphold international law and the rules-based order.
