The Statement of Intent, signed on 19 September 2025, signifies a shared commitment between Tonga and Australia to elevate the bilateral relationship through a ‘Kaume‘a Ofi’ agreement.

The Tonga Australia Resilient Communities Program (TARCP) is a new five-year partnership with Mainstreaming of Rural Development Innovation (MORDI) to strengthen the resilience and economic prosperity of 122 rural communities across Tonga.

Australia and Tonga are committed to building human capital, so that all Tongans can achieve their potential and drive economic growth.

Australia is working in partnership with the Government of Tonga and communities to enhance national resilience, security and sovereignty.

The Australia – Kingdom of Tonga Development Partnership Plan 2024–2029 (DPP) sets out the shared priorities of Australia and Tonga’s development partnership. The DPP outlines our agreed development objectives, ways for working together and how progress will be monitored.
