This report contains the findings of the independent end-of-program evaluation of the Australia Awards and Alumni Engagement Program-Philippines (AAAEP-P), an eight-year (FY 2018–2026), $31 million program that offers scholarships, short courses, local scholarships, and alumni engagement activities to achieve shared development goals between Australia and the Philippines.

Invested: The Philippines to 2040 - Opportunities and Pathways for Australian Investors outlines the strength of and outlook for the Philippine economy, and describes recent reforms by the Philippines Government to open their economy to foreign investment and improve the ease of doing business.

AMPED is a DFAT-funded investment which has an overall goal of contributing to rapid, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth in the Philippines by enabling support from multilateral institutions including the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, International and Finance Corporation, and United Nations Children’s Fund.

The Australia–Philippines Development Partnership Plan 2024-2029 (DPP) translates into action the development priorities Australia shares with the Philippines. The DPP reflects the principles and priorities agreed in the Philippines-Australia Strategic Partnership and supports the priorities presented in the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.

Australia remains committed to strengthening Philippine institutions and communities to withstand social, economic and climate-related shocks.

To boost inclusive and sustainable economic growth, Australia will increase our support for Philippine Government-led economic reforms, promote private sector growth, foster women’s economic empowerment, and continue to invest in human capital and skills development. 

Australia will continue to support stability in the Philippines as a foundation for development.

The Australian Government expresses its grave concern at, and stands by the Philippines in its response to, the dangerous and illegal actions by China’s vessels against Philippine vessels and crew taking part in a routine mission to Second Thomas Shoal, within the Philippines’ Exclusive Economic Zone, on 17 June.

The Australian Government shares the serious concerns of the Philippine Government about the actions conducted by China’s vessels against Philippine vessels and crew, including those engaged in routine resupply missions in the South China Sea on 5 and 23 March.
