Summary of publication
At the Government's request, DFAT led a review into new forms of development finance to support Australia's development, foreign policy, trade and security objectives.
The Development Finance Review recommends Australia scale its development finance mechanisms, including to support countries’ responses to climate change. The Review recommends Australia strengthen portfolio management of financing mechanisms. The Review proposes a gender mainstreaming requirement and performance target for Australia’s development finance investments, consistent with the Official Development Assistance grant program. The Review also recommends DFAT support better engagement with philanthropic organisations and impact investors. The Government has accepted all eight recommendations.
