Background
The Australia-Japan Foundation (AJF) strategy builds on a half century of investment by the Foundation and the Australian Embassy in Japan. In the context of evolving geo-strategic, economic, environmental and social circumstances the AJF supports long-term cooperation and exchange in a range of sectors.
Australia and Japan will celebrate a series of milestones in the next five years. These include the tenth anniversary of the Japan-Australia Economic Partnership Agreement (JAEPA) in 2025, and the 50th anniversary of the AJF and the 1976 Basic Treaty of Friendship and Co-operation between Australia and Japan in 2026. As we approach these important milestones, we will celebrate the past while looking forward to the next 50 years.
