Description

The Development Assistance Facility for Afghanistan (DAFA) is one of Australia's main bilateral mechanisms for delivering development Assistance to Afghanistan. The goal of Phase III of the Facility will be: Afghanistan is developing the leadership and human capacity of women and men required to achieve sustainable economic and social development.

To achieve this goal, the DAFA III will deliver a range of important programs under four components:

  1. Component 1 – Australia Awards (an expanded scholarships program)
  2. Component 2 – The Malaysia Australia Education Project for Afghanistan (training of Afghan Master Teacher Trainers, and capacity building for Teacher Education Directorate officers and Teacher Training College leaders)
  3. Component 3 – Public Financial Management (improving budget execution in four Afghan Government Line Ministries in Kabul, and four Line Directorates in Uruzgan)
  4. Component 4 – AusAID Initiated Activities, including the provision of procurement and logistics services (AusAID directed activities that respond to priority requests from the Afghan Government in priority sectors, as well as, the provision of program support functions such as contracting of O-based officers, and security and logistics support for in-country missions).
