Summary
This document presents the Annual Report 2011–12 and Annual Plan for 2012–13 of the Rural Integrated Water Sanitation and Hygiene Project 2 under the Australian Community Rehabilitation Program Phase 3.
Description
The Rural Integrated Water, Sanitation & Hygiene Project aims to strengthen governance and community structures to connect disenfranchised communities with each other and to the Pradeshiya Sabha (local government) and plantation management. The project achieves its objective by using water as a common good to implement the Government of Sri Lanka's Rural Water and Sanitation Supply Policy (RWSS).
The Year 2 Annual Report and Year 3 Annual Plan was developed by World Vision with input from stakeholders. The stakeholders analysed the progress of project activities, the impact on beneficiaries, main stakeholders and domains of change. The analysis was collated by World Vision staff and augmented by interviews and group discussions with officials from the Provincial Council, Pradeshiya Sabhas and RWSS-SIDU; estate managers and representatives of plantation management companies; officials of Zonal Education Departments and Ministry of Health; school principals, staff and students; CBO and community leaders; and community members.
