This report summarises progress in Australia's aid program in Bangladesh from July 2013-June 2014.
This report finds that the Australian aid program has helped improve the impact of basic services in Bangladesh and provided more economic opportunities for women living in poverty. This assistance is contributing to Bangladesh's prosperity and stability. Despite challenges in the operating environment important progress was made in education, where Australia is a lead donor. Direct support was provided to extremely poor women, empowering them to find income generating opportunities. Australia continues to deliver its assistance in collaboration with strong partners including the Government of Bangladesh, BRAC, the United Kingdom and the World Food Programme. Australia will prepare a four year Aid Investment Plan, detailing a consolidated package of assistance to continue our support for inclusive economic growth in Bangladesh.
