AusAID Research Strategy 2012–16

Summary

AusAID funds research to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development.

Description

AusAID funds research to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development. Good research leads to greater development effectiveness and AusAID has been a strong supporter of practical, policy-relevant social science research into development challenges.

This strategy outlines AusAID's approach to delivering an effective research program which provides better value for money. AusAID will ensure a program of relevant and high quality research by: setting research priorities that align with country program needs; increasing the proportion of competitively funded research; enhancing AusAID's performance oversight of the research portfolio; increasing access to research results; and continuing to build the capacity of researchers and research users in Australia and in our partner countries.
