Australia is imposing targeted financial sanctions, in coordination with international partners, on a further six entities associated with North Korea’s supply of arms and related materiel to Russia.

Australia has imposed a targeted financial sanction and travel ban on Russian citizen Dmitry Yuryevich Khoroshev for his senior leadership role in the LockBit ransomware group.

Australia is aware that Russia held presidential elections between 15 and 17 March 2024.

In accordance with item 9, regulation 6 of the Autonomous Sanctions Regulations 2011 (Cth) (the Regulations), the Minister for Foreign Affairs (the Minister) has previously designated for targeted financial sanctions, or declared for travel bans (together ‘listed’), by legislative instrument:

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Foreign Minister Penny Wong today announced financial sanctions and an export ban, targeting sectors of economic and strategic significance to Russia.

The Australian Government has announced a ban on the export of machinery and related parts to Russia and areas of Ukraine temporarily under Russian control. DFAT invites public consultation on the proposed ban until 19 June 2023.
