Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Tim Watts MP will travel to Vienna to represent Australia as co-President of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s (IAEA) International Conference on Nuclear Security (ICONS) 2024.

Mr Ian Biggs will be Australia’s next Ambassador to Austria; Ms Karen Bray Australia’s next High Commissioner to the Republic of Kiribati; Mr Allaster Cox Australia’s next High Commissioner to Singapore; and Dr Greg French Australia’s next Ambassador to the Netherlands.

Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Tim Watts MP will travel to Vienna to reaffirm Australia’s long-standing support of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and deepen bilateral ties with Austria.

On 21 September 2021, the Australia-Austria Strategic Cooperation Arrangement was signed by Prime Minister Morrison and Chancellor Kurz. The principal goal of the Arrangement is to broaden and deepen the bilateral relationship in areas of mutual interest.

Australia's Minister for Foreign Affairs will visit Greece, Belgium and Austria this week to advance our relationships with our close partners, discuss shared values, and further common interests including the prosperity and security of the Indo-Pacific region.

Australia and Austria work closely together on a range of shared interests, including the net zero transition and in multilateral fora to strengthen internationally agreed rules and norms, human rights, gender equality and diversity.
