Australia will invest $25.6 million over four years to assist young Australian professionals to gain real world experience at international institutions critical to Australia’s interests.

Australia thanks the High Commissioner for her presentation and welcomes her report. As a member of the core group of resolution 45/28, Australia supports strengthened linkages between the work of the Council and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda.

Australia thanks the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention for its written report and welcomes its consideration of the Declaration Against the Use of Arbitrary Detention in State-to-State Relations.

As ASEAN's oldest Dialogue Partner, Australia is a committed supporter of ASEAN centrality. We support an open, inclusive and prosperous region with ASEAN at its heart, consistent with the objectives and principles of the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific.

Australia thanks the Special Rapporteur for his presentation and welcomes his report identifying factors that render displaced persons vulnerable to slavery.

Australia and India, with our technical expertise and strong track record in innovation and entrepreneurship, are emerging as key players in the global development of critical and emerging technologies. Over the course of the next decade, and beyond, these technologies, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), next generation telecommunications (5G/6G), Internet of Things (IoT) and quantum computing, will change the way we live and interact, at all levels of society and business.

We thank the High Commissioner for her oral update on the human rights situation in Nicaragua. The escalation of human rights violations as the November elections approach is particularly worrisome.

We thank the Special Rapporteur for his report, including his recommendations to member states and the wider international community on how to establish judicial and non-judicial measures to ensure accountability for genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity, and ethnic cleansing.
