The Principality of Liechtenstein is located between Switzerland and Austria, making it one of only two doubly landlocked countries in the world. Covering an area of 160 square kilometres, it is the fourth smallest state in Europe and the sixth smallest in the world. Liechtenstein has a resident population of approximately 40,000.

The establishment of our High Commission in Alofi in August 2020 is a sign of Australia’s growing relationship with the people and Government of Niue, and underscores Australia’s focus on deepening engagement across the region.

Australia’s High Commission in Cook Islands was established on 17 December 2019 and is a significant milestone in our growing relationship with Cook Islands. The High Commission’s establishment and signing of the Cooks Islands-Australia ‘Oa Tumanava partnership in 2022, has enhanced our co-operation in tourism, trade, investment and security and people-to people links.

This Comprehensive Strategic and Economic Partnership (CSEP) reinforces the strong bonds between our two countries and strengthens our ambitious vision for the future. Through it, we commit to elevate our relationship, accelerate our strategic and economic cooperation, and build on the close connections between our people, institutions and communities. We enter into this Partnership at a time when the mutual value of our friendship has been clearly demonstrated through our response to natural disasters and a global pandemic, and the impacts these have had on our economies

This MOU articulates the commonalities between the objectives and approaches of USAID and DFAT, and establishes a basis for ongoing dialogue and cooperation between them.

Australia and Vanuatu share a strong connection as members of the Pacific family. Our relationship over the last 44 years demonstrates our long-standing and enduring ties, including through shared values, church and community links, and mutual respect. Our strong partnerships enable us to work closely together – in good times and in times of crises.

Australia is present in Wallis and Futuna, the most remote and least developed of the French Pacific territories.
