Australia is deepening engagement with the Mekong subregion. We are partnering with Mekong countries to respond to shared challenges and build the resilience of the subregion.
We are working in partnership to respond to transboundary challenges such as water security, climate change, economic shocks and transnational crime. Since 2020, Australia has committed more than $450 million through the Mekong-Australia Partnership to support a more resilient subregion.
The 2025 Mekong-Australia Partnership Annual Report showed strong progress in strengthening climate resilience, water security and inclusive development outcomes across the Mekong subregion. The program also delivered activities to strengthen economic resilience and increased collaboration on combating transnational crime by strengthening institutional and operational capabilities.
