Unity and collaboration: Australian and Chilean First Nations Fashion and Cultural Exchange

To mark Australia and Chile’s 80th year of diplomatic relations, our Embassy in Santiago delivered a 3-day program of events to promote Australian leadership in First Nations art, culture and economic empowerment.

The key events included First Nations fashion shows, produced by Australian social enterprise the Kirrikin Foundation, celebrating Indigenous creative businesses and demonstrating how artistic expression can be commercialised.

Incorporating Indigenous Australian fashion, art and music, the Kirrikin production engaged local Chilean Indigenous fashion designers, and included performances from local Indigenous musicians and Indigenous catering.
