Description

The Australian Fashion Chamber (AFC) hosted a showroom in Paris as part of the city's Spring Summer 16 Ready-To-Wear Fashion Week, from 5-8 October 2015.

The Australian Designer's Abroad showroom includes a mix of established and emerging Australian fashion talent, namely: bassike, Camilla and Marc, Christopher Esber, Ginger & Smart, Michael Lo Sordo, Romance Was Born and STRATEAS.CARLUCCI. Representing the finest of Australian fashion, the designers were chosen based on their industry skill, the strength of their current seasonal collection and their potential appeal in the international market.

They were selected by a panel of Australian industry professionals including: AFC Deputy Chair and Editor-in-Chief of Harper's BAZAAR Kellie Hush, designer Carla Zampatti and co-founder of Sass and Bide, Sarah-Jane Clarke.

The AFC initiative is designed to foster and encourage Australian design talent. Initiatives such as these provide designers with the support and global stage to showcase their designs. It also exposes the Australian fashion industry as a whole to the international fashion community.

For many designers, the opportunity to showcase their designs in Paris during this key period in the fashion calendar expands the reach of their business to a level that moves beyond the opportunities available in the local market.
