New Colombo Plan celebrated in Yogyakarta

The New Colombo Plan was recently celebrated at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Three New Colombo Plan scholars studying in Yogyakarta, Emma Roberts (Yudhoyono Fellow), Kara Menzies and Tess Harwood, attended the event, as well as Australian volunteers and students from the Australian Consortium for In-country Indonesian Studies (ACICIS).

Australia's Ambassador to Indonesia, Mr Greg Moriarty, congratulated the "New Colombo Plan Scholars for their academic achievements and for being part of this experience and representing Australia". Mr Moriarty highlighted the importance of learning languages, saying "understanding the language is an important step in understanding Indonesia and I congratulate you all."
