Project Description

The Australian Studies Centre (ASC) will run forums where the private sector, the public sector and academia from the Mercosur countries will participate, together with high profile Australian academics, private sector leaders and government officials. Australia and Latin America have strengthened considerably their bilateral relations in the last 5 years and due to this, Australia is now well positioned to have Mercosur engagement. The ASC's key areas of study are relevant for Australia and Latin America, so the forums' sessions will focus on these topics. Each session will explore the status of each topic, the challenges posed to each area, and how the private and public sector, together with academia can contribute to the medium and long-term development of each area. The forums' topics are:

• Agriculture / Water management
• Sustainable development / Infrastructure / Smart cities
• Fintech/Agtech
• Natural resources
• Biotechnology
• Education
• Business / Commerce

The ASC will organize the event and support will be secured from sponsors and the Australian chamber of commerce of each Mercosur country. The forums will provide networking opportunities for all the participants.
