Project description

A new, original theatre performance for children, with cross-cultural content, will be co-produced by Terrapin Puppet Theatre (Australia) and Haya Cultural Centre (Jordan). The artistic teams will partner and adapt a story that children in both Australia and the Middle East can relate to. Both teams will collaborate during the initial phase on developing the creative structure and narrative of the co-production. The performance will be designed to contain few spoken words so that universal audiences can enjoy it should touring opportunities arise.

Three Australian artists will travel to Jordan and work with HCC team - Terrapin's Artistic Director, a puppet maker and a lighting designer. The artists will organize a series of workshops for HCC team and the broader community of local artists on puppet making, light design and shadow theatre. More focused on-job training for HCC team will take place that will lead towards the new proposed co-production.
