To support a visiting professor in Australian Studies at the Centre for Pacific and American Studies (CPAS) and the acquisition of resource materials for CPAS's research library. The Visiting Professor of Australian Studies, UTokyo, engages with undergraduate and postgraduate students through teaching Australian Studies related subjects, and also interactions with Japan-based scholars at UTokyo as well as other Japanese universities. There are also opportunities to engage with broader audiences via public events.

Total project value: $106,600

AJF grant: $40,442 in 2014-15 for the Australian Studies Visiting Professor Program at the Centre for Pacific and American Studies, the University of Tokyo, and an additional $1000 in 2015-16 to support Dr Nugent settle in and to contribute to the provision of resource materials.
