Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program (AAMEP)
The Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program provides the opportunity for emerging Muslim leaders in Australia and from ASEAN countries to participate in a community-based program of dialogue, intellectual and cultural exchange.
Delegates will experience a program reflecting the diversity of multicultural Australia and Muslim communities in Southeast Asia. Emerging community leaders such as individuals involved in non-government organisations, charities, mosques, Islamic schools, universities, as well as authors, artists, and academics are encouraged to apply.
The AAMEP draws on an 18-year history of the Australia-Malaysia, Australia-Thailand and the Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Programs. These programs are unique in their focus on building friendship and understanding between the Muslim communities of Australia and ASEAN.
AAMEP is delivered by Australia Indonesia Connections.
In 2022, the Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program will be delivered as an online program for the first time over eight weeks.
Each week of program will include sessions with invited guest speakers, delegate interaction and virtual tours. To fully engage in the AAMEP program experience from February-March 2022, delegates should plan to commit between 7-10 hours each week.
Young or emerging Muslim leaders aged 23-40 in Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines or Brunei Darussalam are eligible to apply.
