Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program (AAMEP)

The Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program provides the opportunity for emerging Muslim leaders in Australia and from ASEAN countries to participate in a community-based program of dialogue, intellectual and cultural exchange.

Delegates will experience a program reflecting the diversity of multicultural Australia and Muslim communities in Southeast Asia. Emerging community leaders such as individuals involved in non-government organisations, charities, mosques, Islamic schools, universities, as well as authors, artists, and academics are encouraged to apply.

The AAMEP draws on an 18-year history of the Australia-Malaysia, Australia-Thailand and the Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Programs. These programs are unique in their focus on building friendship and understanding between the Muslim communities of Australia and ASEAN.

AAMEP is delivered by Mosaic Connections.

AAMEP 2022

In 2022, the Australia-ASEAN Muslim Exchange Program was delivered online over eight weeks.

The program brought together 36 emerging young Muslim leaders from across Australia and Southeast Asia.

Each week the program included sessions with invited guest speakers across Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam; delegate interaction and virtual tours.
