Summary
This proposal, 'Portraits of resilience-strengthening community adaptation measures to effects of climate change in the Fiji Islands Project Proposal
Description
The proposal seeks funding of $1.3 million for a World Wildlife Fund project to reduce the impacts of climate change in targeted communities in Macuatu and Ba provinces of Fiji, improve coastal ecosystems, and safeguard food security and livelihoods. The project aims to achieve the following outcomes by 2013:
- climate change adaptation, disaster risk and coastal resource management are integral to Fiji's national and provincial environment policies and plans, with input from affected communities
- the coastal mangrove forests of Ba and Macuata provinces are progressively less vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, due to improved local management of marine and coastal areas and resources.
