Solomon Islands Performance Linked Aid Program— Economic and Financial Reform Program, First Annual Joint Review 2010

Summary

This report reviews the overall progress of the Economic and Financial Reform Program (EFRP), explores how the Core Economic Working Group (CEWG) functions and idenitifies possible steps for 2011.

Description

The first Annual Joint Review (AJR) since the inception of the Core Economic Working Group (CEWG) was conducted in August 2010. The purpose of the AJR was to review overall progress against Solomon Islands Government's 2010 Economic and Financial Reform Program (EFRP), to explore how the CEWG is currently functioning, and to identify possible steps for 2011.

The Annual Joint Review has concluded that progress towards the 2010 reforms has been good, particularly in the area of public financial management. A few reform measures where progress has been slower than anticipated could be addressed by the end of the year pending actions by the new Government. The Review believes that to ensure reform momentum is maintained, significant continuity into 2011 in terms of the reform priorities would be helpful.
